Another possible problem is signal level if you are receiving over the
air.  I use a HDHR with an ATSC source and one channel has low signal
level.  Sometimes recordings are missing just like you say other times
they work fine.  I used the windows HDHR gui app to watch the signal
levels as it is recording.  When the signal level is low the HDHR
doesn't output anything so myth doesn't record anything and you get an
empty file.

it would be nice if myth would detect this and automatically
reschedule the recording...
