Yup!  What's Jerry Pournelle's line: I do this stuff so you don't have 
too!
I have never before installed a driver for one piece of hardware which 
buggered up the driver for another piece of hardware. (Well at least 
since the tveeprom drivers got merger so the HD3000 and PVR's would 
work. That was September 2006 or so). But seriously, would you expect 
that installing or updating a driver you were not using would bugger 
your ability to use a different driver? I did not load the driver: my 
xorg.conf still used the intel driver, not that that made much 
difference as OpenGl was entirely screwed!

I didn't comment to that effect. I have the 180.16 driver running with a 
6200 card at work. I am not sure but I think it is using XvmC...can't 
remember.

Makes sense that it would, even if the card cannot use vdpau

Maybe you could post some details: mb + CPU and load playing HD output 
using vdpau, so that those of us not yet there, can drool.
