I have a spare "Akimbo" set top box.  It as a locked unit in
the old days but people have been able to put various linux
flavours, and use it as a mythtv front end.  (Or backend if you put
a card in it.)

Nice little box.  Low power, has ether, 2 USB, svideo out, suitable to
be a fileserver or other stuff too.  But I want only HD these days.
