Just so you know, you can run mysql on any machine on your network if  
you have another that's on 24 hours a day so you're not just limited  
to the local machine. Depending on how much memory you have in your  
machine(s), this could be beneficial to having it local. Make sure  
network permissions are all set up correctly in MySQL.

Remember to avoid swapping whenever possible, so if you raise your  
memory settings for MySQL, check your memory usage to make sure that's  
not happening.
