As far as I'm aware the two front-panel audio outputs are just paralleled to the 
two back-panel jacks of the same colour, with the caveat that if you plug 
something in the front, the corresponding back connector is disabled.

The front panel is usually wired via a cable which plugs into a standard 
connector on the motherboard giving this functionality. (Other front panel 
outputs eg USB, may connect via other cables).

Therefore, your choice of output jacks to juggle is effectively three.
