I'm a going to try a serial receiver, and then, perhaps KDE and to try to root this out. Intermittant errors are really annoying.

The problem started for me back on Fedora 9 around about Oct 2008. It
seemed to coincide with the addition of a replacement video card.
However, that was not specifically verified as there were numerous
system updates. It was not possible to pinpoint any specific culprits as
I have not been able to consistently duplicate the problem. It was more
consistently observable running XFCE.

Currently running Fedora 10.

Gnome at the moment. No screen savers installed. The problem "seemed" to
be more prevalent when running XFCE.

The remote input is a serial (Tira2) on the DB9 connector. I've toyed
with the idea of trying a PVR250 just for the remote functionality to
see if the problem still exists. If someone can verify the problem using
a PVRxxx IR receiver that would help me avoid having to pull two systems
apart to switch a PVR card.

My system is set up as a separate frontend/backend system. I have a
second frontend running on a desktop that I have not seen the problem
on. However, that system doesn't get used as heavily to view TV in the
same way the main frontend does and the remote is more of a nuisance (or
testing) rather than the main means of input.
