I have a similar issue. I am using 180.22 driver (confirmed), with
trunk build 19602 and VDPAU enabled, and while playing an HD recording
I see this in top:

Cpu0 : 22.3%us, 1.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 74.1%id, 0.0%wa, 0.7%hi, 2.0%si, 0.0%st
Cpu1 : 1.9%us, 1.3%sy, 0.0%ni, 96.8%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 2074688k total, 1074756k used, 999932k free, 57924k buffers
Swap: 2047744k total, 52k used, 2047692k free, 648656k cached

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
10537 mythtv 20 0 372m 180m 58m S 75 8.9 1:24.61 mythfrontend
 6104 root 20 0 436m 35m 10m S 4 1.8 1:15.28 X

Any idea why mfe/X combined seem to be using 79% CPU, but the two
cores are mostly idle (using about 25% total)? The picture quality is
fantastic, much better than any other playback method I have used, so
in that regard I'm happy, and I don't even really care if the CPU is
higher than what it should be, it works!

Tom
