yeah, me too.

in fact, i set up my adsl modem in dumb bridged mode and run pppoe (and
firewalling and DNS and DHCP and squid and everything else) on my main
machine, since it's on 24/7 anyway. 

i'd run NAT on it too, if i needed it (I don't need NAT because i have
my own /24 networks routed to my home adsl connection).

a full linux system has a lot more flexibility than a poky little
adsl router, even if it is running a minimal (crippled) linux.


alternatively, if your adsl modem/router can run openwrt (mine can't,
it's a billion 7401) then it can be a real linux system.
