The remote is a Tira2 connected to the standard (db9) serial port. There
doesn't seem to be any missed button presses. I tested it again this
morning with the verbose statements and it didn't miss a beat in seeing
the lirc code come through. I've had problems with that unit detecting
IR from a closely situated laptop in the past. There are no other
computers in the same room as the frontend.
I was thinking of putting a PVR-250 and use it for the remote only.
However, changing the system from XFCE back to Gnome seems to have fixed
the problem, though.
