It's also kind of an ill-defined protocol. I've found out the hard way
that "H.264" means different things to different people, because
everyone seems to pick and choose the features of H.264 they want to
implement. Trying to find some subset that will play on everything that
claims to support H.264 is quite a challenge.
Of course, that's not an obstacle for use on a closed network that uses
STBs, and I expect cable companies will use it eventually in their
never-ending quest to cram more channels down the same pipes. :)
