I have explained this issue many times.

This would be the same with the official ubuntu nvidia packages.

Now libvdpau is installed by a different package than the nvidia
drivers one. Before libvdpau used to be in the nvidia drivers packages
themselves.

They changed this from 180.22.

Problem with synaptic ; apt is that it tries to install the vdpau
package before the nvidia-glx-177 is removed so there's a conflict.

You must completely uninstall the nvidia drivers prior <= 180.11 or
install stuff in a specific order (easier to just uninstall)
