Now, to your second question.  I am a little confused as you seem to be
saying you did what I think you should do to fix the lines but let me assume
I don't understand and start from the beginning.  Pardon me if I am telling
you what you have already tried.

The flickering white lines are data that is transmitted at the top of the
digital streams.  You need to have some overscan which you enter in one of
the setup sereens in mythsetup.

Do this:
Utilities/ Setup
Setup
TV settings
Playback
General Playback (2/9)
Vertical Scaling 3
Horizontal Scaling 3


That is what I do to get rid of the problem you are having.  For what it is
worth, the shows are shot assuming this kind of scaling so you are not
missing anything.
