I seem to recall seeing a similar app for the Nokia 770 or N800 series of 
pockt PC.

Google MythTV Nokia N800, you'll get a lot of hits.

There are also some apps to transcode and watch Myth recordings on a Nolia, 
but I'm pretty sure there was at least 1 "remote control" type application.

I have an application that runs on my Newton 150 that will control a Sony TV, 
maybe you could modify that? if you have a Newton in the deep freeze that 
is :-)
