That's a very fair point. Although I haven't been affected, here have
been enough recent reports about playback problems with certain CBS
affiliates' recordings to indicate to me that something has changed on
the encoding side, for example.
How much flexibility is there in the VDPAU architecture? Is the GPU
used as a sort of general-purpose decoding/rendering engine that
API-compliant software can use via the driver, or are there hard-wired
MPEG-2 and h.264-specific engines in the GPU that VDPAU permits access
to?
