I've figured out that the problem is xvmc. files playback once I turn
xvmc off and go back to using the standard decoder or libmpeg2. The
playback is not fast enough though. Switching back to xvmc I get a
black screen and a bunch of errors endlessly spit out by the frontend
until I exit out of the player, which is showing only a black screen
and no sound. Here are the errors the frontend throws out:
2009-02-12 22:10:56.239 AFD Error: Unknown decoding error
2009-02-12 22:10:56.282 [mpegvideo_xvmc @ 0xb735cb88]get_buffer()
failed (1 1073741824 2 (nil))
Seems to be something related to xvmc. I wonder if a driver update
would help things.
