1) How hard is it to just overwrite Apple TV with MythBuntu or Mythdora.
+ It's pretty easy. There are step-by-step instructions on
http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/ that Scott Devilla put together -
worked for me
 2) If 1), then which has better Apple TV support? (I currently use a
Mythdora FE/BE)
+ I have both a Mac Mini (Core Duo, not the newer C2D) and an AppleTV
(ATV). The Mac Mini is a MUCH better front end. Handles 1080i and 720p
broadcasts driving my 1080p screen just fine - no tearing or anything. (It
cannot do BluRay) I run the Mac Mini under Ubuntu and dual boot it. While
the ATV is incredible for what it does - I find it a bit slow and annoying.

3) (I think) I saw that Myth FE can be installed onto Apple TV and still
keep the original functionality while adding Myth as another menu item. (I
think) it said that this requires owning a Mac so you can copy some
utilities over
+ You can set it up just find from a Linux computer

4) if 3) do I lose Myth FE every time there's an Apple TV update?
+ Not sure

5) Does Apple TV play 1080i?
+ Not for me.
6) Are the formats Apple TV can play dependent upon the hardware or
software? IOW, if I overwrite it with Linux - can I play OGGs and any
format I can play with Linux? Or is the hardware too limited for that?

and, finally, thoughts from people who've used it - Mac Mini or Apple TV?
(Again, this is just for FE)
+ If money isn't a problem - Mac Mini is infinitely better. ATV is just an
incredibly sexy, low-cost option.
