Hi all,

Every now and again I get jittery performanve when playing back high
def video on my frontend. Tonight I tried restarting both the front
and backend independent but the reall bad frame rate with more pauses
in sound than actual sound coming through.

Nothing was showing up on the server logs and the client logs were full of:

2009-02-07 17:41:15.116 NVP: prebuffering pause
2009-02-07 17:41:15.118 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:16.070 NVP: prebuffering pause
2009-02-07 17:41:16.071 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:16.442 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:16.962 NVP: prebuffering pause
2009-02-07 17:41:17.920 NVP: prebuffering pause
2009-02-07 17:41:17.921 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:18.838 NVP: prebuffering pause
2009-02-07 17:41:18.839 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:19.164 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:19.696 NVP: prebuffering pause
2009-02-07 17:41:20.580 NVP: prebuffering pause
2009-02-07 17:41:20.581 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:20.923 WriteAudio: buffer underrun
2009-02-07 17:41:21.446 NVP: prebuffering pause

I decided to attempt to capture the problem with tcpdump so kicked off
tcpdump -i eth0 on the frontend and immediately, my poor performance
disappeared - before it even started capturing lines...

I am assuming that going into promiscuous mode fixed something. Has
anyone seen this before? Any ideas?

I am using an Asus m3n78-em motherboard with nvidia chipset.

Cheers

Phil
