What version of the LCD do you have ?

I have the one with USB code 0038 as described here

When you install the lirc_imon kernel module it creates two devices:
lirc0 and lirc1

lirc0 controls most of the button on the remote but the PC navigational keys
lirc1 controls the knob on the case and the PC navigational keys on
the remote...

One other problem is if when scanning for the IR code on lirc0, you
press a key that belongs to lirc1 then IR will stop working as lirc1
and lirc0 can only handle one key at a time, and one device won't work
if there's something in the other lirc device's buffer.

Mine is working fine now, and I've modified both the starting up
script for ubuntu. If you look in the comments in the link above
you'll see that I published all my mods.
