irw will respond to key presses from any defined remote. You'll see
something like this:
b741000000000000 00 info harmony880
The last bit of information is the remote that is defined in your lirc
config file (lircd.conf I believe). Sorry, this is all from memory
since I switched over to my built-in receiver that uses its own
implementation.

lcdproc is what handles displaying information on the lcd (hence:
LCDproc) and lirc is what handles the ir receiver (hence: lIRc)
