I bought the Gigabyte GT220 card which comes with a large but quiet fan. It does actually take up two slots (out of a total of 3 on Mobo).
The cards works quite well with MythTv with vdpau but there is one "problem" right now if you want to use hdmi... The sound hardware on card is still not recognized by alsa as we speak. I know it is being actively worked on and there might even be a breakthrough in figuring out the problem but for now, the hdmi sound is unuseable.
