I tried the initial version of windows MCE a number of yeas ago and
all recordings were somehow tagged and could only be played back on
the PC that recorded them.  I'm not sure if this was via encryption or
something else (it uses its own proprietary codec).

But... there were online tools available that could convert the format
it records in into an mpg(non-drm'ed).  It was clumsy but it is
possible.  You would then need to link in the windows MCE scheduler to
the myth scheduler so it knows what to record.  Some sort of script
that queries the db could work, but there will be quite a bit of
hacking involved.

I think the HDPVR +STB option will be cheaper when you include your
time to make this work... because that already works with myth.
