Not at the machine now, but the memory is probably the problem.  It is
just 128 MB.

I have an almost identical box (but running windows) that has a 256 MB
8600 GT.  Would it make sense to try to switch cards, or is 512 really
the minimum?  I did a search and saw some people having luck with 256 MB
cards.
