I have a rather old ATI X300 running with AMD's fglrx driver, and in my 
xorg.conf I have this Modules section:

  Load         "dbe"
  Load         "freetype"
  Load         "extmod"
  Load         "glx"
  Load         "dri"

I'm not quite sure if all of them are needed, either.
