The Ion is based on the nvidia 9400M chipset ; which has full LPCM 7.1
audio support.

So far , alsa doesn't support 7.1 LPCM output anyway.

On Windows ; the support of Dolby TrueHD bitstream output is rather
poor ; usually it is decoded into LPCM and LPCM is sent.

The 9300/9400M is I believe the only nvidia chipset supporting full
hdmi and 7.1 LPCM .
