[mythtv-users] Poor HD Playback

I have recently setup my first MythTV system (combined FE,BE).  I am using mythbuntu 8.10 with the 0.21-fixes updates.  So far, I am dissapointed by the HD playback and need some help making it work better.  The playback is not smooth, especially when there is any
motion or panning.  NBC and CBS are paritcularly bad.

My system has an 3.15 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1330MHz FSB, 4GB SDRAM.  The video storage is on a seperate disk than the system.  I'm using an NVidia 9400GT 512MB video card, connected via VGA to my Plasma TV.  The video resolution is set to match my panels native display resolution (1280x768,60Hz).  The capture devices are two HDHomeRuns.

I started with the default profile (CPU-?) and switched to the high quality profile.  I changed the filters to Yadiffx2 which seemed to help a bit.  CPU usage is around 50-60% when playing back 1080i MPEG2 recordings.

I have been considering trying Bob2x, but have been following the  discussion between Tom Dexter, Paul Gardiner, et al about a new deinterlacer that might work better.  However, I am not using an interlaced display, so I don't know if their filter would work for me or not, but I am willing to try it if it would.  I also have no idea how to go about doing so, since I'm not building MythTV from  source.

I am new to MythTV, and have spent quite a bit of time resolving many other issues.  I haven't been able to get much improvement with the HD playback, and rather than continuing with the trial and error approach, I would like some suggestions on what might work best to improve this.
