Trying to get firewire working with my mythtv-backend. Previously,
the same cable box (Motorola DCT6416) was working fine with an older
backend with a VIA-based firewire card in Fedora 8.

On my new setup, running CentOS 5.2, plugreport is showing nothing.
When I run it (as root), it just exits back to the prompt with no
output whatsoever. However, if I look in dmesg, I can see the
firewire card is initialized. Modules are loaded properly, the OS can
see and probe the firewire chipset on the motherboard, and it can even
pull off the node id of my firewire cable box.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H
Firewire chipset (on motherboard): Texas Instruments TSB43AB23
IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link)

Kernel: 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5.centos.plus

Output of lsmod:
[root at server02 ~]# lsmod | grep 1394
raw1394 58544 0
dv1394 51728 0
ohci1394 64600 1 dv1394
ieee1394 387064 3 raw1394,dv1394,ohci1394

Output of dmesg (showing cable-box detection):
[root at server02 ~]# dmesg | grep 1394
ieee1394: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted.
ieee1394: Initialized config rom entry `ip1394'

ieee1394: Node added: ID:BUS[0-01:1023] GUID[001e4**********]
ieee1394: raw1394: /dev/raw1394 device initialized

Output of plugreport:
[root at server02 ~]# plugreport
[root at server02 ~]#

I've tried plugging it into both firewire ports on the cable box, same
thing happens.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
