I am not sure what you are trying to do but if you are trying to use a
particular device for sound playback in myth one way is to set it as
your default device then just let myth be set to default.

I found these instructions on a post:

sudo asoundconf list
I got back:
Names of available sound cards:
Live
V8237

I then did:
sudo asoundconf set-default-card Live
followed by a reboot to test.
