I thought X11VNC would mimic an existing desktop, instead of creating a
new "virtual" one. I would think he wants tightVNC, or the original VNC
server, not X11VNC.

Or am I wrong, which is quite possible.

In any case, it doesn't sound like he wants to export the entire
desktop, just X applications, which can be done easily with ssh -X
(assuming the ssh server has that feature enabled).
