This sounds more like a refresh rate issue. Are you playing back
PAL/50Hz material on a display setup at 60Hz?

What does glxinfo say?

If you're referring to the opengl video renderer, I doubt you'll get
much mileage using the opengl deinterlacers with these graphics
chipsets. They're not built for 3d speed and the use of shared memory
will slow things down even further.
