I think you'll get more info on that atv mailing list.
My 2c is that I had only one problem with a 720p CBS News. It was choppy.
Otherwise, ATSC is working great. It's my main FE in the living room.

BTW, I opted for the dual boot. It's a bit more work, but it isn't
bad. It's convenient. I can pull out the USB stick (for linux boot)
and boot back into AppleTV if I want. I never have used the iTunes
store but I did download the free movies.
I made sure that the dual boot worked after installation and it worked fine.
