I may have a patch to remove it, but it won't be submitted until some 
other changes I'm planning to make to the preview-generation process are 
completed (it's not worth the developer time to just remove a single 
setting).

Sorry.  I wasn't trying to attack you for the suggestion.  I just happen 
to hate that setting as it's the definitive example of why MythTV is so 
hard to configure:  we can't ever remove settings, even after code is 
added that makes the setting obsolete, because of user outcry (and, yes, 
these are the same users who complain that Myth is too hard to 
configure).  So, I may have gotten a bit too emotional in my response.
