It's highly unlikely that the hdhomerun is the problem since it doesn't
really do any processing of the a/v stream, it just acts like a network
bridge for the data stream. Is it possible to bring up the Master and/or PCM
volume in Gentoo but reduce the volume on the PVR-500 separately?
