I'm not sure if this will help or not, but try going into the 
mythtv-setup and go to your card.  Under a button labeled "Recording 
Options" there's a check box that says "Open DVB On Demand".  Checking 
that helped for me.  I have a pcHDTV 5500 card and I would get a green 
snowy picture on my Analog portion when tuning.  This worked for me, 
even though the setting was on the DVB (digital) portion of the card setup.
