The moment you distribute the copy to someone else -- for whatever reason,
and on whatever scale -- it ceases to be "personal".  That in fact is the
key point.

And over-reaching on the "can do"s is near-irresistible bait to those with
lawyers to burn and an axe to grind.  Consider all the harassment and SLAPP
suits filed by the RIAA and MPAA for what most folks consider relatively
"minor" infractions.

Not the mental image I would prefer...  Note that "slip through their
fingers" implies "get away with something."  That's not quite the same
thing as "know your rights, assert them unabashedly, and defend them to the
death."
