If the system in question is intended to be a stand-alone FE/BE without any
other BE on the LAN to provide the grunt of the recording & file storage
work, then *any* of the ultra-small systems are inherently quite limited.
But in a split system scenario, they can be near-ideal.
In fact, the photo on that web page leads me to think that it is the same
Pundit (the now-discontinued P1-AH2) that I was looking at strongly for a
dedicated Front-End-Only system (well actually, it would probably wind up
be configured as a FE/BE system; but with most of the Back-End work
deferred to the main Back-End elsewhere on the LAN). For that application,
I'd think it could work quite well. The only significant negative I
noticed was that the S/PDIF-out was on the front panel, instead of the
rear, which would render the installed cabling situation somewhat less tidy
than ideal. But OTOH, I figured it probably wouldn't be all *that*
difficult to cobble together a rear-panel connector and cable it to the
header on the mobo; I just need to see inside one for myself, to be sure of
that assumption.
