[mythtv-users] Comcast rendering my HDHR useless

They've been doing that in Boston for some time now. Though I think
they had duplicates for a while, I have noticed quite a few channels
have gone from the Analog realm to only digital.

Sadly, I just see this as the way of the future, with many companies
holding out because of the initial costs involved. Comcast has the
money to do it up front right now, so they are, but I don't see how
any modern tv transmission company will be able to escape this
business plan.

What I find humorous is that the less time I have lately for watching
tv the more invaluable DVR's, and Myth in particular become to me
watching TV at all. In fact, if it weren't for Myth (and the fact that
I live with 4 other people so we split the Comcast bill) I probably
wouldn't have cable either, I'd go to the bar to watch sports and use
the internet for everything else too. I may not save any money in the
long run, but I'd rather spend the money on beer than Comcast. Luckily
for me, my cable bill amounts to very little...

Of course, we love gadgets, which is why I still want an HD-PVR...
