Maybe the most useful bit of information in that thread is "Been  
covered a number of times on the atrpms-devel mailing list." meaning  
that if you're going to use an unstable rpm from ATrpms, you should  
follow the atrpms-devel mailing list just like if you're going to use  
an unstable version of mythtv, you should follow the mythtv-dev  
mailing list.

Things are pretty much guaranteed to break at some point. It's best if  
you know about them and help by reporting problems not already known  
in the mailing lists.
