[mythtv-users] audio rates and recording/playback profiles

I know this gets discussed once in a while, but I have yet to find a
definitive answer. I was under the impression I could get around this
somehow in 0.21.

The problem is this. On my backend I have an analog card and a hybrid
card. The analog card audio output goes into the motherboard sound
card which only samples at 48000 Hz. The analog portion of the hybrid
card has audio output that only samples at 32000 Hz. There have been
repeated discussions about "you must set up alsa correctly". However,
that discussion seems to revolve around the frontend playback. The
backend/recording still has the problem that it can only record in
48000 Hz or 32000 Hz sample rate, but not both. Meaning, if I set
recording to 48000 Hz, the sound is great for the analog card, but not
the hybrid card. If I set recording to 32000 Hz, then the sound is
great for the hybrid card, but not the analog card. So, I know it's
not a playback issue.

I know I can set up two separate recording profiles, one to record
with a 48000 Hz sample rate and one to record with a 32000Hz sample
rate. Is there any way to tie these recording profiles to a specific
card? Or can I do something with alsa on the backend to compensate
for the two different sample rates?

Is there a document/wiki page that spells this out clearly somewhere?

James
