[mythtv-users] fglrx, Radeon HD, DVI/HDMI out --> tearing

Has anyone had success playing back HD content over the HDMI/DVI port
with a Radeon HD card (it's an HD 3650) and the fglrx driver? (Or any
other driver...)
The myth GUI works fine; during playback of HD content the color looks
fantastic, but tearing shows up frequently.
To fix the tearing, I've tried most/all combinations of the fglrx
settings for TexturedVideo, Textured2D, TexturedXrender, AIGLX, and
vertical sync, and the MythTv setting for OpenGL Vsync, all to no
avail.
I get messages like this in the frontend log:
2008-05-24 19:09:51.783 DRMVideoSync: VBlank ioctl did not work,
unimplemented in this driver?
2008-05-24 19:09:51.783 OpenGLVideoSync()
libGL error: drmGetMagic failed
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering
2008-05-24 19:09:51.854 OpenGLVideoSync: GLX Video Sync not available
The "indirect rendering" message does not always show up, especially if
I uncheck the OpenGL sync in Myth. But the tearing is always there.
Has anyone ever got this to work? Any advice for me?
I'm using Myth 0.21 from the Debian Multimedia packages, the fglrx 8.5
driver (aka 8.49.7, the latest), and kernel 2.6.22.
Thanks,
Steve
