After looking on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_Processors
I must draw that same conclusion :(
It seems you got an Athlon Classic. I've never run into that with my
previous system(athlon classic 500), but last time I used it is years
ago when drivers where numbered with double digits ;)
Maybe as a last resort you can get an older nvidia driver? The last
driver I can recall using was something 58 or something in 60...

It does the same here, the line is:
Using the OpenGL painter
Which probably doesn't load because there seems to be an error in your
xorg.conf.

That might explain the problem of not starting backend, look at its
start script. Is the user the backend runs as existing and is it allowed
to write log where it's configured to write the log?

It seems the nvida-driver isn't loaded, you load glx but not the nvidia
driver. Normally you can change this by changing the nv reference to
nvidia in xorg.conf.

You're welcome, no guru here though ;) But I hope it helps tracking down
the cause...
