Chris,
I saw your posting on the em2880 mail list last year. I didn't see 
anyone on the list responding to it.
So basically the idea is that if you install this branch you're going to 
pretty much be incompatible with most other dvb drivers since you have 
to abandon the main v4l that everyone uses?
I haven't tried getting these working in unison with any other tuners 
yet. Sounds like that could be a big problem.
