if 'you' are fairly Linux savvy and can get everything tweaked for her
i don't think she'd have a problem.  i wouldn't say i'm that Linux
savvy so my box isn't set up perfectly, but my wife is able to use it
without getting frustrated; and she's no techie. :)
as long as you show her how to set up recording schedules she should
be fine.  Myth is 'almost' easier to use than a VCR.
