The answer is "It depends". If you're playing back an interlaced
stream on your 720p display, (That is, a SD/480i/720i/1080i stream)
then you need to deinterlace it. If it's a progressive
(EDTV/480p/720p/1080p) stream, there is no need to deinterlace.
