Hi,
I've set up a test system for 0.21 to ensure my wife approval factor is
maintained in the upgrade. All is going swimmingly except for playing
back recordings on windows (which happens about 20% of the playback time
for my wife's recordings).
My setup is as follows:
* Mythtv 0.21 backend running on ubuntu 8.04 LTS regular ubuntu 0.21
packages
* Upgraded to weekly mythbuntu 0.21 weekly fixes packages
* Located in Brisbane/Australia, recording free to air TV from the
standard definition digital channels via DVB-T
* Two PCI DVB tuners (Leadtek DVB-1000T, Twinhan DTV thingo) both using
multirec and allowing 4 streams per tuner to be recorded at once.
* Recordings/scheduling and everything works perfectly on the backend
* Playback of resulting recordings is patchy under VLC
* Playback of resulting recordings is patchy under Windows Media Player 11
* Problems with playback occurs for all channels
The playback problem for VLC (our preferred player) is no sound from 95%
of recordings. There are sometimes two sometimes one audio track.
Sometimes it plays back on tracks with one. I haven't found a recording
where it will play back either of the dual audio track recordings
sound. Timing is right, no skips. Seeking within the mpg is
supported. I've tried VLC 0.90 daily builds and 0.8.6f stable build.
I've reset all configuration to default. I've tried this on multiple
machines for the same result. Streaming under mythweb works with VLC.
The playback problem for Windows Media Player 11 is random jumpiness.
Video will play fine with audio for all recordings however a half hour
recording will play back in 5-10 minutes. It will play fine for a while
then skip a random amount of time and then continue to play back fine.
This happens with all recordings. Windows Media Player is also unable
to seek through a recording. Streaming under mythweb doesn't work for
WMP11.
I've tried Dscaler. It plays back recordings perfectly, however I'd
prefer to use VLC due to the nice features and easy skip
forward/backward key configuration. Streaming isn't supported by Dscaler.
I don't have these problems with identical tuners recording from the
same channels under the latest 0.20-fixes under ubuntu 6.06 on my
"production" machine. All recordings play back perfectly with all
software on win32.
Any ideas?
