[mythtv-users] MythArchive produces useless ISO

I have been fighting this for days, trying different versions of
MythArchive in the 0.21 releases available through the
debian-multimedia.org deb archives, the dependencies of MythArchive,
even recompiling mytharchive for my Debian box. All of this started with
a package update last week, so something recent caused it, but too much
changed before I noticed this symptom to know what is at fault.

When I run MythArchive, it completes, producing an ISO, but none of my
DVD players will play the result. My Windows desktop player says "Format
not supported". I've cut the number of programs down to one and still
get this result.

The source file looks good in MythTV itself and here is the output of
"file" on it:

/share3/pvr/1023_20080127190000.mpg: MPEG sequence, v2, program multiplex

This same content worked fine before whatever changed, as I had built a
test ISO but found I could fit more on it, so had prepared more to go on
the disc. I've been using MythArchive for more than a year with no more
trouble than broken audio requiring AC3 reencode, so again, I'm at a
loss to explain what software is broken.
