[mythtv-users] HD Slave BE/FE Hardware

My BE/FE combo with an Athlon XP 2800+ processor has served me well
since beginning my MythTV project with 0.16. However as I've added
tuners and more and more content is delivered in HD, it's no longer up
to the task and is destined to become a BE only machine. I thought
about reassigning my Athlon 64 X2 3800+ workstation and buying myself a
nice shiny new one but that would add a few hundred dollars to the
purchase and I really don't *NEED* a new workstation. Thus after lots
of reading and shopping, I assembled a list of parts from Newegg to
become my new HD frontend / slave backend combo.

This machine will inherit the pcHDTV 3000 tuner currently in the BE and
will get a new PVR-150 to take advantage of the existing OTA and DirecTV
cable runs that are currently behind the television. The PVR-150 will
also provide remote functions for the new box.

I have picked these parts to be as inexpensive as possible but "good
enough" to have a system that should be sufficient for the next several
years. For example, I might want to play BlueRay DVDs sometime down the
road. Anyway, here's the list:

comment regarding my hardware choices.

Thanks,

Drew
