The simplest way is to leave it however you have it now.
The best way is subjective to how you listen to music.

Goom uses OpenGL. If it's not, you don't have OpenGL configured 
correctly. It is a bit processor-intensive, so you can configure it to 
increase the size (reduce the resolution) to bring down your CPU usage.
