In my experience, that was completely normal. It's one of the reasons
I made a customized version of the theme for myself, with some of the
dimensions adjusted (ex: smaller panel on the left). Also, in the
Appearance settings area, I've set the "Fine tune font size" to -25%,
and that helps a lot.Thats probably the easiest thing you can do to
deal with the issue.
