Yeah, they are doing that in some areas, and it absolutely sucks. Just
one of the many reasons I hate comcast. I'm glad WOW hasn't followed
suit.

It's been years since I had a cable box, but when I did and had it
hooked up to my TiVo, I found that having TiVo send an enter key after
the digits would make it go away immediately. If not enter, maybe a
clear/escape key will do the same for your box. If so, then you should
be able to program the channel change script to send the signal after
changing.
