It might be worth finding out *why* channel flicking is important. Is it
really important that "flicking" show you what's currently being broadcast
live on TV right *now*, or is it sufficient to quickly see what you could be
watching now? If it's the latter, it might be good enough to have the
channel up and down buttons, in the context of playing a recording,
programmed to save position in the current recording and switch to the next
or previous recording and start playing. That should happen pretty much
instantly, giving the satisfying feeling of power that channel surfing gives,
and probably wouldn't be anywhere near as hard to implement as actually
speeding up channel changing in Live TV.
